The Tower of Babel

According to Genesis, we should have known about the story of the Tower of Babel. How proud were human beings when they got together and built that tower! I can call it the Tower of Pride or the Tower of Glory, since it was a great structure that we, the human beings, have had built up by ourselves, by our force, and by our mind.

However, what a pity that God, the creator of Universe, does hate pride and calls such a great man-made structure the sin of human! He claims that "Pride is the root of all sin"!? God hates any thing human does by himself without the idea of God!? Is that only God has the right to "create" things, and no one else can have that right? Is that any thing done without God's idea is from Satan's idea? Is that there are only 2 poles, one of God, and one of Satan? And is that our whole world with all of the human beings is currently under the rule of Satan?!

How can God be "the benevolent Father" when he stopped such a creative work, the building of the Tower of Babel. As you see, "the bricks were to them for stones, and the clay was to them for mortar", they have invented and used brick; It's creative, isn't it? The Vietnameses have a proverb saying "Con hơn cha là nhà có phúc"("That's happinese for sons to be better than father"). So, I would be very happy if my son can create new things, can do more things than me! But that cannot be the case of God! To me, God is no more than a LORD, just as lord in landlord, a lord that has others do nothing else but to obey him (like to obey his command "to go out and fill the earth").

If only dead could be alive,
If only stone could cry,
If only tears could be laughters,
Then we would hear God answer!

Genesis 11:1-9(or Vietnamese version): ¹ Now the entire earth was of one language and uniform words. ² And it came to pass when they traveled from the east, that they found a valley in the land of Shinar and settled there. ³ And they said to one another, "Come, let us make bricks and fire them thoroughly"; so the bricks were to them for stones, and the clay was to them for mortar. ⁴ And they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make ourselves a name, lest we be scattered upon the face of the entire earth". ⁵ And the Lord descended to see the city and the tower that the sons of man had built. ⁶ And The LORD said, "Lo! [they are] one people, and they all have one language, and this is what they have commenced to do. Now, will it not be withheld from them, all that they have planned to do? ⁷ Come, let us descend and confuse their language, so that one will not understand the language of his companion". ⁸ And the Lord scattered them from there upon the face of the entire earth, and they ceased building the city. ⁹ Therefore, He named it Babel, for there the Lord confused the language of the entire earth, and from there the Lord scattered them upon the face of the entire earth.

Sáng Thế Ký 11:1-9: ¹ Vả, cả thiên hạ đều có một giọng nói và một thứ tiếng. ² Nhưng khi ở Đông phương dời đi, người ta gặp một đồng bằng trong xứ Si-nê -a, rồi ở tại đó. ³ Người nầy nói với người kia rằng: "Hè! chúng ta hãy làm gạch và hầm trong lửa". Lúc đó, gạch thế cho đá, còn chai thế cho hồ. ⁴ Lại nói rằng: "Nào! chúng ta hãy xây một cái thành và dựng lên một cái tháp, chót cao đến tận trời; ta hãy lo làm cho rạng danh, e khi phải tản lạc khắp trên mặt đất". ⁵ Đức Chúa Trời bèn ngự xuống đặng xem cái thành và tháp của con cái loài người xây nên. ⁶ Đức Chúa trời phán rằng: "Nầy, chỉ có một thứ dân, cùng đồng một thứ tiếng; và kia kìa công việc chúng nó đương khởi làm; bây giờ chẳng còn chi ngăn chúng nó làm các điều đã quyết định được. ⁷ Thôi! chúng ta, hãy xuống, làm lộn xộn tiếng nói của chúng nó, cho họ nghe không được tiếng nói của người nầy với người kia". ⁸ Rồi, từ đó Đức Chúa Trời làm cho loài người tản ra khắp trên mặt đất, và họ thôi công việc xây cất thành. ⁹ Bởi cớ đó đặt tên thành là Ba-bên, vì nơi đó Đức Chúa Trời làm lộn xộn tiếng nói của cả thế gian, và từ đây Ngài làm cho loài người tản ra khắp trên mặt đất.
